Like others, I have had the same memory card readers for 10+ years because they still work, right? Well it was time to get a USB C version finally so I’m not dongle city.Out of the packaging, I first noticed that the color is more salmon than orange. Oh well, I wanted something bright in my bag or drawer so I can easily see and grab it and this certainly works. If you have an orange theme that you’re trying to match, expect this one to be a bit off.The housing is very much on the cheaper side. It’s the old style plastic that will likely scratch as you move it around. If this is a travel tool, don’t expect it to look the same after some heavier use. If tossing in a drawer, it should be fine. I squeezed it a bit to feel how sturdy it was and heard a little crack (this is what testing is for, isn’t it?). It still works fine, but be mindful when packing that the housing isn’t to protect it much from outside forces. It also has a slight rattle (prior to the crack noise) and I chalk this up to just loose mounting on the inside that doesn’t impact functionality either.Functionally it is great. All ports work that I was able to test (do folks really still use MS cards?). Transfer speeds were as advertised for the cards that I have, but I don’t have the newest very high transfer speeds used in consoles so I was not able to test that. I especially like that this has USB ports AND I’m able to insert multiple devices and transfer between them. This is clutch if you have an external drive that you want to offload cards to.I also found it nice how they included the USB A <> USB C adapter with a way that attaches. Not only is this nice if you want to plug this into a USB A port, but it ALSO lets you plug a USB C thumb or disk drive into one of the USB A ports. Incredibly handy as one of my external small drives is a USB C.Overall, great value for the money if wanting a quick and easy solution on a budget. If traveling and this will get bumped around, you may want to spring for something more intended for that as this is very much a budget option durability-wise. Functionally, it is great.
