A Box of Brilliance
So far, the WiiM Amp Ultra has been great. It’s a feature packed device which offers a lot at a reasonable price. I won’t go into the specs as these are clear, what I will say is that it is highly customizable and can be set up to switch inputs on detection of audio from each source (if desired). This makes it very easy to go from playing audio from the Line inputs to audio from Optical. The Room Correction EQ is a revelation, making even a pair of old and underperforming speakers sound actually quite decent. I wish there was a way to adjust the strength of the correction (like from 0% to 100%) so you have a choice on how strong you want to apply it, but maybe this will come in a future firmware update, something which WiiM are constantly working on.Some other things to like, EQ per source. Ability to save presets for specific inputs / playlists / albums / songs each with their own eq, four of which can be bound to buttons on the remote. Set alarms for music to play at certain times of the day, volume limits to avoid damaging speakers or going beyond a threshold that might annoy your neighbour, Alexa integration, Google Cast etc. There is plenty of power in the Amp to drive most speakers and it sounds clean and distortion free. I love that I can also plug in a USB drive filled with music and the WiiM will parse the tracks and display them in a very ‘music library’ way. It’s not without issue though. The most frustrating one which almost made me send this back was an issue with Bluetooth. When enabled as a source input, switching through sources when the WiiM reaches Bluetooth causes a frustrating delay of several seconds. Initially, I thought the remote wasn’t working or there was lag in the WiiM, but I believe it scans the Bluetooth network for devices and can’t be manually exited. Fortunately, you can remove Bluetooth as a selectable source, allowing you to switch from Line In > Optical > HDMI without Bluetooth in the middle. Bluetooth will still work, and your device will reconnect if you choose to use it without re-enabling it as a source. And the above mentioned auto switching on detection of audio also helps as you don’t even need to manually change inputs as the WiiM will do it automatically. Regardless, hopefully WiiM can address this. There’s a lot more to love, suffice to say that overall I’m extremely happy and highly recommend this.

Wonderful
I can honestly say that this is the best high-tech product I have purchased to date. The sound reproduction is awesome, and the built-in room adjusting software is just fantastic. I have multiple eq presets for day and night, and the remote is awesome. Not only was it compatible with my system, but it also has an alternate input connection for sidecar components. I paired it with brand new Martin bookshelf speakers, and I am the envy of the place for sound quality, reproduction, ease of use, and multi-function capability. IF you are just starting out. Buy this and a good set of bookshelf speakers. Be prepared to be blown away.

SQ vs Yamaha AS701
This little amp replaced Yamaha AS701 + RPI streamer with DAC (gustard A18) , i was surprised that sound quality seems to be better, even without EQ (EQ is extra bonus to tune room bass deviations to 400-500 hz) , bass goes slightly deeper and is more massive (few db), also i hear more details with this small “miracle” , sound is transparent and clean (DAC 9039q2m is fully transparent) , dynamics is also very good, power is ok and enough for floorstanding speakers 80l BR, SB Acoustics SB29NRX75 + MR18-P + Peerless HDS 810921 – +/- 86dB, 3.5-8ohm, room cca 36m2, HDMI arc is super to adjust TV volume from TV remote, autosensing withou problem, NAS connection OK (after indexing in media server) , value for money is 100 procent, setup easy, only missing audio line out to try different amlifier

Amazing streamer + amp combo, everything the Bluesound Powernode wishes it was
I originally bought a Bluesound Powernode because I read that the sound quality was “better” and I 100% regret that purchase. That device is plagued with issues regarding loud noise being sent to outputs whenever switching inputs (just look at their support forum). Their support team is horrible too, forever to respond, and always trying to blame it out third party equipment which in my case was 100% not true. The BlueOS app is glitchy, non intuitive, and the connection from the player to phone consistently was bad. I finally had enough after trying to deal with their support team for weeks and bought this WiiM Ultra Amp.I’ve only had it for a day but it’s honestly everything I wish the Powernode was. Easy sleek user friendly stable app, zero connection issues, offers a high level of audio control (more much than the BlueOS app which doesn’t even allow sub out gain control or anything more than a basic 3 band eq), great looking screen display with customizable artwork display or clock/wallpapers (huge huge plus over the Powernode), and ZERO of the input switching noise when bit rates are changed. Another huge plus is the built in room correction calibration which is a feature Bluesound has promised for a while but has not delivered on for some models of the Powernode (and even when they do it costs over $200 for a subscription…). Furthermore you can set presets with individual EQ/Audio settings for each input which is great. For my use case, especially with the room correction and better audio controls/EQ, this WiiM sounds noticeably better than the Powernode. Honestly if this device cost twice as much it would still be a good deal. I’ll report back if I encounter issues down the line but so far I’m blown away.

This is the real deal!
As a Wiim ultra owner I was very familiar with the app and the high quality sound it provided. I wanted to add a sound system to my office so initially thought I would get a separate amp and streamer. When the Wiim amp ultra popped up on a lightning deal it was a no brainer. This is simply the best value is your looking for a high quality streamer, Dac and amp in one small package that includes a touchscreen, great remote an excellent app and plenty of connections. The room correction and eq really work well and the amp has loads of clean power. The Audio Science bench review tells you all you need to know and I agree 100%.

I have a record deck which has been connected to a famous wireless system made by a company whose name begins with ‘S’ and which became obsolete and unsupported which I found unacceptable but the app wouldn’t even recognise my transmitter and speakers. I purchased the amp ultra and two ‘sound’ speakers. Expensive but wow! Great sound, versatile connectivity through blue tooth, home network, cable. Sound is brilliant and it’s working flawlessly. Fairly straightforward to set up and a great app. The stuff arrived packed in almost indestructible cardboard and was a bit of an effort to unpack but I’m more than happy with the equipment.
