Works well with my Abode alarm system
I purchased this lock to use with my Abode alarm system. Initially, I purchased the Abode lock but it had issues staying sync’d with my WiFi network, so I returned it. The benefit of this Yale lock over the Abode is that it uses Z-wave to communicate with the Abode hub rather than WiFi like the Abode lock. Frankly, I don’t understand why Abode would sell a lock that doesn’t even use their proprietary RF signal to communicate with their hub. In any case, this Yale lock works perfectly with the Abode, using Z-wave. I use the Yale app on my Android phone to control and configure the lock via Bluetooth. When I’m not within Bluetooth range or when I’m away from home, I use the Abode app to control the lock. The nice thing about the Abode lock is that it was a lot less expensive and I didn’t have to replace my high-security Medeco lock mechanism. The Yale lock has its own key, which can be easily picked. So I have to take the Yale lock to a locksmith to replace the tumbler to work with my high security Medeco key and that’s an additional expense.Overall, the Yale is about 3x the price of the Abode lock, when taking into account the tumbler cost. However, it works well and is built solid. So in my opinion, it’s well worth the cost.

Only compatible with doors that open out to the left / in to the right.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK FOR 1 DOOR LOCK ORIENTATION. THE KEYPAD HAS TO BE ON RIGHT, THE THUMBWHEEL HAS TO BE ON THE LEFT. There is nowhere in the description (or on Yale’s website) that specified this, or guides you to check before you buy. Installation was simple, but lock is no good to me.

Well built, straightforward setup, no issues.
Very heavy, well constructed. Much heavier than competitors I have tried. Setup went well, but it is important to have your hub close, within 30 feet or so, for a reliable process. Hubitat had no issues. PIN and fingerprint programming was simple and per instructions provided. Fingerprint is remarkably useful and reliable. Vastly better experience than the prior product I used (begins with an “S”).

Best on the market
Next level security. Installation was easy and it’s compatible with most doors. I love how it also gives you the option to upgrade your homes network to z wave technology which from my research is really safe. Every home should have this lock.

Significant error in installation manual – do not use 1.5″ face bore
I’ve installed this lock this week, and in terms of appearance, build quality, and function I’m so far very satisfied. However I feel the need to share a WARNING – the instruction manual indicates that the lock will work with a face bore (hole diameter for the lockset) of either 1-1/2″ or 2-1/8″ inches. It will NOT work with the 1-1/2″ hole – the deadbolt cylinder itself is too long by about 1/4″ inch, regardless of what backset configuration you’ve selected. See the pictures I’ve attached with the deadbolt and the installation template for the 1-1/2″ face bore. BOTTOM LINE – if your door already has a 1-1/2″ diameter face bore hole, don’t buy this lock; if you need to drill a hole make it 2-1/8″. In some cases you can make it work with the smaller hole if you can drill an extra deep edge bore for the deadbolt cylinder. I couldn’t do that because every tool I could find for doing that (spade bits with a leading drill point) would have broken through a recessed door panel, and tools that wouldn’t do that (Forstner bits) were too short to drill deep enough. I ended up using a jigsaw to enlarge the face bore just where needed to accommodate the extra length of the deadbolt. Note that Yale technical support confirmed these constraints and the incorrect instructions in the manual.Note to explain pictures – one picture shows the deadbolt configured for 2-3/8″ backset (you can read the numbers stamped in the center section of the cylinder). The bolt extends to the right past the dashed lines of the corresponding face bore circle. The other picture is in the 2-3/4″ backset and the cylinder extends past the solid line face bore circle.

Great Z-Wave Lock when combined with Home Assistane
I was searching and searching for a smart lock that did not require the use of any 3rd party apps and/or clouds. I also wanted it to be able to use fingerprints, keypad and as a backup, a physical key.I settled on Z-Wave for the communication and Home Assistant for the self hosted Smart Home Controlling software. I purchased a HomeSeer SmartStick G8 USB Z-Wave interface and added it to my Home Assistant machine. As this tech is all new to me, I did have a couple hiccups in the beginning. Once I understood the pairing process, this lock paired easily with Home Assistant using the S2 security.I did need to use the Yale App to put the Lock into pairing mode and to add fingerprints. But once that is done, the app is not needed. I am able to manage lock codes in Home Assistant. I am also able to see whose fingerprint was used to unlock the lock.Overall I am very pleased with the purchase.

Switch over from a ZigBee Weiser Lock to this lock with the Zwave module. Love that I can just use the app to add users and codes. The fingerprint is just the cherry on top. It was very easy to install and easy to use.

This lock is great and fits perfectly! I like the finger print feature it comes in handy!

This lock is absolute garbage! It keeps unlocking and locking on its own after just two months of use. We double-check the lock when leaving home, and it’s always locked, but later we get notifications that the door has been unlocked.I can’t return it because it’s over two months old, and there’s no customer support either.

Excellent lock, ticked all my boxes. My main issue is that the fingerprint feature is pretty finicky, but I considered this a “bonus” feature so I’m not too annoyed about it. I wish it was a bit easier to “reset” the fingerprint, at least. Not had battery issues – been installed for half a year and still not low battery. Z-Wave works great integrated with Home Assistant. Unfortunately, you do need to download the app though to do initial setup. Overall though, satisfied, as it’s hard to find a lock ticking all the boxes I wanted without paying even more.
