Works perfect for a 1 heat 1 cool HVAC system.
A bit tough to figure out how to program as the unit has to be off before you can enter the settings menu. Once that was discovered was easy to get to the CHA setting to turn on the auto cool/heat function and set the rec to on so the HVAC system can use the recirculate function. Easy install and all the fuss about a C wire is much ado about nothing. If you think of the wires as a hot and ground the blue C wire is the ground and can be attached to the ground for the thermostat wires that run out to the outside unit which the hot is usually the yellow wire and ground the gray wire. I only have 3 complaints and they would be that with the thermostat off you can not see the current temp displayed and I wish the back light would stay on its bright setting instead of dimming down. To get around the no display when off I simply set it to heat mode when I open the windows and do not want the HVAC to run. It also would be nice to be able to set up all functions in the app instead of having to set them manually on the thermostat but once set the app has everything you need to fully control your HVAC.

Thermostat works great for me
I bought this Tuya thermostat to replace my Honeywell because I did not want to depend on a cloud service anymore just to set my thermostat from my iPhone. I have a standard home H/C system with the following five connections:RH, C – 24VACW – Heating On/OffY- Cooling On/OffG – Fan On/OffThe unit defaults to this “HC1” configuration which is shown on manual page 35. The jumper switch was also already set to the RH/RC position (24VAC to both). I ignored the “S” connection as that is only used if you have an external temperature sensor.My Smart Life app found the thermostat device immediately. I think the app user interface for creating a schedule is efficient and intuitive. Programming the other parameters from the touch panel was straightforward so I turned the backlight on permanently as I like that feature. I only needed to calibrate the temperature reading by +1 degree, and so far the unit has been holding the room to the set temperature despite what other reviewers have experienced.

Triggers compressor for very short bursts, consuming massive amounts of electricity. Manual unavailable online
Temperature swings wildly at times. It defaults to the half degree swing, which makes it trigger the compressor for 30 seconds, just long enough for the temperature to start dropping and kicks it off. This, of course, means the temperature immediately rises enough to trigger it again, BUT, it has a compressor protection timer, so the second time of flashes a delay message as the temperature rises. A couple minutes later, it turns the compressor on and runs for a bit.Short runs like that are incredibly energy inefficient, it takes quite a lot of power to turn one on, and the first 30 minutes of running consumes as much power as the next 24 hours would. It has a setting to change the trigger range from 0.5 to 1.5, but I lost the manual, and it’s impossible to download from their website. When I try to, it tells me I have to log in, first, but there’s no way to log in. I’ll have to buy a different one at this rate.

Great product for the price install was fairly easy and instructions give you the details to tweak all the settings to your unit I recommend getting a cheap outdoor thermometer to adjust the thermostat temp because mine was off but it has setting to change it to correct you just need something to go off of and the app isn’t the best but other than that I love it looks good works great no complaints for the price

This thermostat was easy to install and set up. I purchased this thermostat to replace one that runs only on battery like many that are available today. That was important to me as we are away for several months in the winter and did not want to rely on a thermostat that would quit working if a battery failed. This one has battery backup but runs primarily on the 24volt supply from my furnace. I also like the fact that you can calibrate the thermostat by adjusting the displayed temperature up or down by 4 degrees to get an accurate reading.

**Longterm review** After using this thermostat for several years, I discovered it had been continually cycling on and off my garage heater continuously before it eventually reached its target temperature goal. This continued cycling every 2-3 seconds, stopping then starting up again caused a total failure of the heater’s circuit board, necessitating a very expensive repair. After replacing the circuit board it continued before I replaced it with a brand name thermostat. Poor quality product.

We didn’t want a programmable thermostat but wanted something a bit more modern than the regular slide ones that you get at Home Depot. Looks great, works great and was a great buy! For the same money as the manual thermostats you get a really nice, electronic one with basic functions. Love it!

Purchased this to replace my eco saver digital programmable thermostat? Sure glad I came across this unit, as often woke up in middle of -30 temps. and my eco. saver thermostat reduced temp. to 16 C. ?? This unit keeps house warm day and nice ! No more having to go from 16C to 21 and waiting for furnace to recover heat for 45 minutes !~ Digital, non programmable, but still best!
